Van Gerwen demolishes Anderson to move into Grand Slam Quarter-Finals

Michael van Gerwen is through to the Quarter-Finals of the Grand Slam of Darts after producing a 10-2 demolition of Gary Anderson who has performed well this week despite his knee injury.

Van Gerwen though himself wasn't at his best as of yet but continued his return to form with a 101 average, three 180's and 43% on the doubles.

Van Gerwen took the opening leg of the tie but Anderson came back with a 132 on the bull to make it 1-1 to make it a fairly even tie to begin.

But from there, Van Gerwen was absolutely brilliant as he claimed a break to make it 3-1 with a 94 checkout before making it 4-1 at the interval as his average sat at 97.

Even with both players hitting two 180's, Anderson missed doubles and Van Gerwen which he hasn't done at times this year stepped in to break and make it 5-1. The procession continues as another break saw him go 7-1 up.

He sat at the break at 9-1 up with Anderson offering no answers to his prowess with an 88 checkout on the bull underlining this.

But despite Anderson getting a consolation leg on the board, this proved to be just that as Van Gerwen closed out a 10-2 win.
