It is a rise which has seen Aspinall go from a player who did not have a Tour Card to a maiden ProTour, World Championship run and UK Open title; to now adding a second TV title of the year to his collection.
He endured a brilliant start to the final claiming a 10 darter in the first leg in which he hit a 180 and double 12 and barring a bounceout he would have hit the nine. Smith joined him in the high scoring stakes with the duo hitting four 180's in two legs and he hit a 130 checkout to make it one a piece.
Aspinall edged in front hitting double four with a brilliant 117 average at that point compared to 111 from Smith. The latter came back to make it 2-2 and the match went between the pair; but it was the UK Open champion who went 4-2 ahead with a brilliant 120 checkout.
Following this it went to parity between the pair with Smith very much still in it, 'The Asp' retook the lead at 5-4 and had a pivotal break with a 95 checkout to make it 6-4. From there he surged to the title with the crowd very much behind him.
A brilliant rise continues for Aspinall with another new champion crowned on the World Series to start the year off.
