The Oceanic region is getting its own version of the Premier League Darts. The first edition of the PDC ANZ Premier League will take place in the fall, with Simon Whitlock as the first announced participant.

The PDC ANZ Premier League brings eight spectacular nights of darts to different cities in Australia and New Zealand. The eventual champion will receive an invitation to participate in the upcoming World Darts Championship.

The first seven rounds of play will follow the format of the popular European Premier League Darts. This means each night will consist of quarter-finals, semi-finals and a final, with the eight participants meeting once in the quarter-finals. Opening night will take place on Oct. 4 at Melbourne's iconic John Cain Arena, while round seven will be played on Nov. 15 at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre.

After these seven weeks, the four best players qualify for the final night at the Nissan Arena in Brisbane. There they will play a group stage, after which the two best players will fight for the title and the World Cup ticket in the grand final.

The first confirmed player for the PDC ANZ Premier League is none other than Simon "The Wizard" Whitlock, the most successful Australian dart player of all time. Whitlock reached the final of the PDC World Championship in 2010, won the European title in 2012 and captured the PDC World Cup of Darts in 2022 along with Damon Heta.

In addition to Whitlock, Russ "The Voice" Bray will also travel to Australia. The legendary referee, who was inducted into the PDC Hall of Fame in 2024, will play a prominent role during the event. In addition, Bray will share his knowledge and experience by training Australian and New Zealand referees during the Premier League.

In addition to Whitlock, seven other players from the Australian and New Zealand region will participate in the PDC ANZ Premier League. For eight weeks, these darters will compete on the big stage at the biggest darts event the region has ever known.
