The final session of action is upon us at the Austrian Darts Championship which is taking place this weekend in Vienna with eight players remaining to fight for the title.
Two of them are from the home nation of Austria but are well known faces in Rowby-John Rodriguez and Mensur Suljovic. It all begins though with Vincent van der Voort and Cameron Menzies.
Some would say the two most impressive players this weekend. Van der Voort averaged 103 in a
6-1 win over Gerwyn Price as he showed some good form as the
European Tour returned.
Menzies despite not hitting those heights eased past Adrian Lewis and has shown his brilliant on stage persona as well as his form which he has taken into the tournament from Challenge Tour so it could be a brilliant tie.
Next up is the aforementioned Mensur Suljovic who will face Ian White. Both players are among the most experienced of the final session and both impressed during their victories over
James Wilson and Keegan Brown. Similar to the last game, if both players come with their top form, it could be one of the ties of the tournament.
Rowby-John Rodriguez will also have the crowd behind him and will take on Peter Wright who has not looked his best since changing his darts again and was lucky to move through to this stage. 'Little John' will be hoping for a similar performance in what is his first European Tour Quarter-Final since 2015.
Finally Michael van Gerwen who will be favourite for the tournament and is now on a 10 match winning streak which many wouldn't have been expecting to say last month when he wasn't at his best in the slightest will face Ricky Evans.
Evans has had the best year of his career to date but with his rapid style this could suit Van Gerwen, if the Kettering ace can hold onto him; he could pick up a big scalp.
