Danny Baggish is a main example of a player who has risked it all in order to play darts professionally winning his Tour Card last gasp and then he is now based over in the UK for large periods of the year.
A change which is tough for Baggish but one he knows he has to do.
"I see why a lot of players didn't want to dedicate themselves to the tour because of how tough it was going to be. Just coming from the States or Canada or wherever the case may be. Hats off to Jeff Smith for what he's done," said Baggish to Oche.
"It's hard to leave your family, it's hard to leave that culture, coming to a new culture, be by yourself. You have friends on tour but ultimately no disrespect to anyone but are they really your close friends like back at home, they're not. This is what we signed up for."
It has also strained and ended relationships back home with Baggish unable to see his family as much as he used to.
"It cost me my relationship with my son's mom, neither one of us really knew that it was going to be this hard. Can't necessarily say I blame her. I can't drive four, five, six hours to see my son, I have to Zoom call or FaceTime and it's just not the same."
