For
Benjamin Drue Reus, the
Nordic Darts Masters ended in a big disappointment. The 26-year-old Dane, the only Dane on stage at this World Series tournament in Copenhagen, was knocked out in the first round by Nathan Aspinall 6-0.
Although his playing made little impression, Reus nevertheless drew attention with a bright ginger haircut. The colorful haircut was a fresh entry on stage, but did not change the final result. Despite his status as a Tour Card holder - and thus full-fledged PDC professional - Reus (who stuck to an average of 82.94) troubled Aspinall but not enough to get a leg. He missed five darts for it.
The flamboyant Dane, currently ranked No. 92 in the world, is known for his striking looks: previously he appeared with blond dyed hair. On stage at Forum Copenhagen, it was again his looks that caused a stir, not his playing.
Continuing
The 6-0 defeat marks an embarrassing continuation of a now downright remarkable negative run. Since his debut in 2022 at the Nordic Darts Masters, Reus has lost in the first round every year - and each time by exactly the same numbers:
- 2022: 6-0 against Dimitri Van den Bergh
- 2023: 6-0 against Gerwyn Price
- 2024: 6-0 against Luke Humphries
- 2025: 6-0 against Nathan Aspinall
So for the fourth year in a row, Reus could not win a leg in front of his own crowd. A home performance that is beginning to feel like a recurring nightmare. Perhaps his next hair color will bring better luck - on the scoreboard, that is.
