Brilliant Aspinall claims fifth PDC Title

Nathan Aspinall claimed a fifth PDC title after winning the seventh Players Championship event of the season in Barnsley on Saturday.

The Stockport ace defeated Brendan Dolan 8-4 in the final. Dolan had a 4-2 lead after six legs, before Aspinall won six legs on the spin. The world number seven hit two 12-dart legs and finished off with a 14-darter to win the title.

Michael van Gerwen was one of the four Dutch players who were beaten by Aspinall en route to the final. The Asp also knocked out Geert Nentjes, Vincent van der Voort and Danny Noppert.

Dolan moved into the final after beating the likes of Dave Chisnall, Derk Telnekes and James Wade. New Tour Card holder Telnekes reached a PDC quarter-final for the first time as the Dutchman defeated Gary Anderson and world champion Peter Wright.
