Brilliant Beau Greaves seals first Grand Slam of Darts win, Gerwyn Price thumps Ryan Searle with 110 average

Beau Greaves came close to defeating Nathan Aspinall yesterday on her Grand Slam of Darts debut, but got her first win on Sunday afternoon showing her brilliance on the Wolverhampton stage.

With heavy crowd backing, Greaves thrashed recent first time European Tour winner, Ricardo Pietreczko 5-1 claiming it with a 12-darter as her hopes remain alive in Group H. While 'Pikachu' sees his fade after defeat to 'Beau N Arrow'.

She claimed it with three 180's and a 95 average to boot and Pietreczko was rattled as she hit double 20 after Greaves missed 160 for a 3-0 lead over the German initially. Pietreczko finally got off the mark with a 118 checkout as he brushed off jeering from the crowd.

But Greaves merely took the boiling over of frustration in her stride as she hit a 90 checkout for a 4-1 lead as Pietreczko bizarrely was celebrating every shot in an attempt to brush off what was going on behind him.

But it did not prove to help him as Greaves took the victory and showed exactly what she can do again on the big stage.

This followed an utterly epic display from Gerwyn Price who is first into the second round. He averaged 1`10 as he thrashed Ryan Searle in a whitewash win.

Price who has fond memories from this venue in Aldersley in particular will look to bring those back and in being the first through showed that the love affair is very much still there.

He hit four 180's and 50% on the doubles as well as the 110 average in a truly special display from 'The Iceman' prior to the excellence on display from Greaves. Laying down a marker in Wolverhampton in some style.
