Bradley Brooks has continued a brilliant few weeks by making a sterling
Grand Slam of Darts debut on Saturday afternoon with a routine win over Mervyn King.
Brooks won through 5-1 over King with all the talk about the latter's recent exploits but it was a consistent rout from the Blackburn ace who recently claimed the UK Development Tour to seal his spot on the tour for another two years.
Brooks took the opening leg despite missing four darts to initially seal it and King was getting slightly agitated as Brooks applied the pressure.
He missed two darts at 88 but returned with Brooks unable to find the second treble 18 for a 128.
Both exchanged 180's but with King down to 140, Brooks set up 74 which he pinned on double 20 to make it 2-1.
Nine darts with no trebles though for Brooks saw King wrestle back control on his throw leaving double 12 with Brooks needing 136 which he couldn't pin.
The doubles deserted King though and Brooks returned for 76 which he pinned for 3-1. He consolidated that to go one away.
A second break in 74 from Brooks secured a dominant win for 'Bam Bam'.
While
Jim Williams surged past James Wade in a deciding leg victory on his return to TV action this time though as a PDC representative and a future Tour Card holder.
Williams was solid throughout and could have won more comfortably without missed match darts and Wade took it all the way but it is 'The Quiff' who reigns supreme to begin Group C.
He started well with a 104 checkout for the opening leg. Wade levelled up with Williams unable to take out 144. Both ended up on 100 but it was clinical Machine as he produced to make it 2-1.
Williams looked good on Wade's throw but couldn't produce 121. Both couldn't produce on the doubles and Williams finally sealed a break back on double four.
Williams missed 98 on double 12 but Wade wasn't on a finish and 'The Quiff' made it 3-2. A 134 leave saw Williams down to 84 looking for another break.
He missed the bull for the outshot but returned for 25 to go 4-2 up. A 180 and a wired 120 checkout saw Williams miss the chance to win and Wade returned for a break back.
It was sent the distance with Wade pinning double 12 for 4-4. A poor leg from Wade barring pressure at the end saw Williams having the first crack at the win which he missed on double 16.
Wade returned for 103 which he didn't get a dart at and Williams once again returned to claim it on double eight.
