Steve Brown has had a major hand in the development in both the JDC and MAD serving both the youth and amateur sides of the game as well as being a PDC Tour Card holder in his own right.
But 'The Bomber' is heading up another venture linked to the former in the Winmau Team 360 program.
The specific purpose of this program being to help the 'exceptionally talented' young darts players become fast tracked as part of a team with specific mentoring, training and backing.
He joined Winmau TV to discuss the new program in more detail.
"I think about six months ago we had the initial conversations. We had to decide a name and a concept and now we can benefit these kids. I think we've got the winning formula and with the backing of Winmau, we can't go wrong," said Brown to Winmau TV.
"I sort of feel like a headteacher of a primary school and you get to the last year as they do in the JDC and you don't really get to see them that often after that so we felt a big part of their journey up to that point. For me it's important I remain part of that journey also."
"It's designed for the exceptionally talented kids. Not everyone is exceptionally talented now but they could be in the future so this is something for them to work towards if they're not there yet."
"Any player that is not signed with another company will be offered a place on the team at a tour so there's incentives to winning the tour."
"My role primarily is to be a mentor obviously we will have coaching days and we'll bring the likes of Paul Nicholson in. I'm a mentor for the players but I'm also an ear for the parents. Being a professional player myself but I'm also the father of a professional young player so I'm sat in a unique position."
