Bruno Nascimento will make his debut at the World Cup of Darts in June after winning the qualifying tournament for Portuguese darters in Caldas da Rainha. The talented dart player will defend his country's colors in Frankfurt alongside PDC Tour Card holder José de Sousa.
Nascimento managed to qualify by posting a strong run in the qualifying tournament. In the group stage, he won three of his four group matches and then convincingly defeated Fabio Queimado, Manuel Ferreira, Sandro Cruz, Darren Bentley and José Barbosa in the knockout stage.
In doing so, he became the first player to secure a spot to the 2024 World Cup of Darts, which will be held June 12-15 at the Eissporthalle in Frankfurt through the worldwide qualifiers.
For Portugal, it is the sixth consecutive participation in the prestigious country tournament. In the past five editions, José de Sousa has been the team captain each time. Portugal's best performances came in 2020 and 2021, when De Sousa reached the second round together with José Marques.
He repeated this in 2022 with Vítor Jerónimo, but in both 2023 (with Luis Almeida) and 2024 (with David Gomes) Portugal already stranded in the group stage.
