The 2022 PDC
Challenge Tour circuit will begin this weekend with 24 tournaments in all during this year.
Last year was a separate tour for British and European players due to the COVID-19 pandemic but this year, both have been merged again.
The 24 tournaments will be played over five weekends. Two of those five weekends will be played in Niedernhausen, Germany, and the other three in the United Kingdom.
During the first weekend from 21 to 23 January, five tournaments are scheduled. Five Challenge Tour tournaments will also be played in April (1-3), July (15-17) and September (16-18). Four tournaments will be played on the last weekend.
At each Challenge Tour tournament there is a prize pool of £10,000 to share. A ranking is drawn up with the prize money. At the end of the season, the numbers one and two will receive an invitation to the World Darts Championship, plus a Tour Card for 2023 and 2024.
In addition, there is another reward for players who do well. The top of the standings will have a chance to compete as a reserve player in the Players Championship tournaments of the PDC Pro Tour. When a Tour Cardholder fails to register or unregister, the highest ranked player on the Challenge Tour Order of Merit may be added.
