Dave Chisnall is through to the
World Grand Prix Quarter-Finals after completing a remarkable comeback to see off Ross Smith 3-2.
Chisnall battle from two sets down and will face off against Gerwyn Price in the latter stages in a potential blockbuster match with a stunning 135 checkout to complete the feat.
Smith sealed the opening set with a clean sweep smashing in a 152. He claimed a break to begin the second set with a 15 darter in the form of a 68 checkout.
Chisnall hit back on double 10 with a break in a leg that should have gone to Smith. The latter missed 88 on the bull but returned for 25 to claim the second set 3-1.
Smith broke throw to make it 1-1 in the requisite set to take control once again but with Chisnall failing to get off, it looked like Smith would go 2-1 up but Chisnall took it on double 20 to go one away from a set back himself.
An 88 checkout on double 14 saw him turn it around and make it 1-2. But a 91 checkout saw Smith produce a roar and take back the lead.
But Chisnall hit a 12-darter to make it 1-1 with a 48 checkout. A 134 saw Smith keep pace on Chisnall's throw but he replied with a 180. This put him down to 86 and he pinned double 20 from there to make it 2-1 as he looked to force a decider.
Smith couldn't produce on his throw and Chisnall forced a deciding set. A 52 checkout on double six saw Smith hold throw but Chisnall returned with a 130 checkout.
Chisnall left 36 with Smith back on 96 on his own throw. The St Helens ace missed his first chance to break but Smith couldn't take his chance and he went one away.
Smith produced a 125 setup to leave 70 to force a decider. Chisnall hit a 135 checkout using Bull, T15, D20 to claim it though.
