Chisnall defies nine-dart Humphries to clinch Hungarian Darts Trophy title

Dave Chisnall has won the Hungarian Darts Trophy to his name. 'Chizzy' won 8-7 in the final over Luke Humphries, who managed to steal the show with a nine-darter during the final match.

Chisnall and Humphries met in the final of a Euro Tour tournament for the third time this season. Chisnall also won the previous two finals between the two Englishmen. The latter reached the final in Hungary after wins over Scott Mitchell, Rowby-John Rodriguez, Michael van Gerwen and Scott Williams, while Humphries was too strong for Keane Barry, Martin Schindler, Luke Woodhouse and Gerwyn Price.

In the final, Chisnall was broken in the first leg after a 170 finish from Humphries. In the sixth leg came Chisnall's rebreak with a 12-darter. 'Cool Hand Luke' broke his compatriot again in the eleventh leg with a 12-darter to take a 6-5 lead.

With a 9-darter, Humphries then made it 7-5. However, Humphries then came up with two lackluster legs and allowed Chisnall to come back to 7-7. In the final, Humphries got a matchdart first, but he missed it on double 12. Chisnall was waiting on 24 and did manage to hit the double 12 to take the title.
