Chisnall edges through to Masters Quarter-Finals with deciding leg win over Gurney

Dave Chisnall is through to the Quarter-Finals at The Masters for the sixth time after edging out Daryl Gurney 10-9 in a decider to end the afternoon session in Milton Keynes.

After the first two matches were completed with relative ease, the last two were anything but with Chisnall edging through with a 97.8 average and five 180's.

Chisnall began the tie by racing into a 3-0 lead but Gurney hit back with a 146 checkout to reduce the deficit to 3-2 and keep it interesting.

Despite that though, the St Helens ace raced into the lead again at 5-3 up with a break of throw and after Gurney missed his chance to break, Chisnall cleaned up for a 76 checkout and a 6-3 lead.

It was Chisnall's turn to miss though in the requisite leg as he missed five at doubles and Gurney returned for a 106 checkout to trail 6-4.

It was another 170 to add to the tally at The Masters as Gurney from there closed the gap to 7-6. But Chisnall responded with an immediate break back to go 8-6 up and potentially put the tie to bed.

His doubles came back to haunt him though as he wasted nine and Gurney broke back on double one to trail 8-7. Chisnall went one away but Gurney levelled at 9-9 to send it all the way. Chisnall though finished the job with a 74 checkout to move through in another thriller to end the afternoon.
