Dave Chisnall would have felt he dodged a bullet tonight as his finishing saved him against Vincent van der Voort and brought him a third round place at the 2020 PDC World Championship.
Chisnall hit 64 percent on the doubles with a high checkout of 124 as he saw off only 24 percent from his opponent. This came after only four 180s from the St Helens ace and a 93 average meaning it was good but not his high standard.
To start off, Chisnall pounced in the first set on missed darts from Van der Voort as 'The Dutch Destroyer' missed six and he hit tops to take it.
The St Helens ace continued in that vein hitting a third 180 and taking out 97 to lead. It was soon four legs on the spin for Chizzy as he broke throw and hit 68 to double his lead. He went onto win the set 3-1 to assert his dominance.
Despite that, it was a quick fire break for Van der Voort as he went 2-0 up in the next set and he completed it without a reply to potentially turn it around.
Chisnall led though in the fourth set pinning a 124 checkout on the bull and hit a 56 checkout to go one away. Van der Voort couldn't finish on 67 and Chisnall pinned double 10 to claim victory.
