Dave Chisnall is into the Quarter-Finals of the UK Open for the first time since 2012 after a 10-8 victory over superb debutant, Alan Soutar.

Chisnall was 8-6 down but produced a superb spell to deny the impressive Scot who has had a whirlwind two weeks since claiming his Tour Card at Q-School.

But it will be the former who is through with a 99.5 average and six 180's joining Luke Humphries so far in the draw later.

Soutar was superb early on claiming an early break over Chisnall who could not hit his doubles and headed into a 3-0 lead.

He missed a dart for a 4-0 lead though and Chisnall got into the tie with back-to-back legs to leave himself 3-2 behind at the interval.

The St Helens ace continued his momentum by reeling off five consecutive legs to go 5-3 up on the Scot but he stopped the rot in style with a ten dart leg on double eight.

Despite some double trouble in the requisite leg, Soutar hit double two with his last dart to square it up at 5-5 at the next interval.

They exchanged 180's before Soutar took out 97 to break and move 6-5 ahead. He sunk double four from there to go 7-5 up and potentially to the point of no return.

He continued his momentum heading only two legs away at 8-6 up. Chisnall held but Soutar still had a leg ahead in the form of a break.

But this break was gone as Chisnall pinned tops to break for an 11-darter and 8-8. He made it three legs on the spin to go one away from the win suddenly.

Soutar was resigned to his fate with Chisnall leaving 98 on the former's throw with the Scot not able to muster a treble.

He pinned the 98 checkout on double 19 to claim his spot in the Quarter-Finals.
