Chris Dobey claims first ProTour title since 2021 with Players Championship 7 success over Josh Rock

Chris Dobey has sealed a first ProTour title since 2021 and the first since his Masters triumph in 2023 at Players Championship 7 in Leicester.

A second nine-dart finish in his career today as well as his second highest average of nearly 110 against Ross Smith in the semi-finals while admitting post final that he was unwell, not a bad days work for 'Hollywood' in defeating Josh Rock in the final 8-4.

Both hit 180's in the opening leg, but struggles on the outer ring for both saw Rock hit double 10 to break and go 1-0 up. He missed 104 for a hold and Dobey broke with a 108 to make it 1-1.

Dobey missed two for a 70 checkout to go 2-1 up and Rock picked his pocket to break again. But the match paused with a noise being pointed by Dobey and match referee Owen Binks went to investigate. On return, Rock returned to treble hitting form and held throw to make it 3-1.

Dobey found double 20 for 3-2 down and broke for double 10 to make it 3-3. He was throwing for a 4-3 lead. Rock hit back with a hold to make it 4-4. Dobey missed the seventh dart for a second nine-dart finish of the day and he finished the leg with an 11-darter for 5-4. He missed the bull for 6-4 but Rock missed two darts for 5-5 and 'Hollywood' returned to seal a two leg lead.

Dobey missed double 11 for 124 to go one away. He had to chase around but Rock couldn't get a shot of 135 and the former returned for double two. Nine perfect darts in a leg to leave 24, Dobey hit double six for a 10-darter and the title.
