Chris Dobey, one of the most talented darters on the current PDC circuit, seems to be passing on his passion for darts to the next generation. The current world No. 8 has two children, but it is his youngest son who is showing a remarkable interest in the sport. Dobey hopes his son will do even better than darts sensation Luke Littler, who made a big impression on the professional circuit at a young age.

Darts is often seen as a sport in which experience and precision play a crucial role, but increasingly we are seeing young talents taking their first steps at an early age. For Dobey, this seems to be no different with his youngest son, who is only 14 months old and already enthusiastic about a dartboard.

During an interview on the YouTube channel Juicy Darts, Dobey was asked when "Project Littler" would begin - a playful reference to the rise of young darts phenomenon Luke Littler. Dobey laughed and replied, “It’s already started with the little one! I’ve got him a little magnetic dart board for his birthday and he’s never off it.

His oldest son also had an interest in darts at a young age, but that disappeared after a while.

“My eldest has got no interest now. He did have a good natural throw when he was 12-18 months, but no interest whatsoever. [My youngest is] 14 months and he’s literally throwing it at the magnetic board. We’ll try to get him playing earlier than Littler!

The question now is: Could his son ever play against him on a big stage? Dobey himself sees that as a great possibility. “I’d like to still be playing if one of the two were to come through. It’ll be great. 100 per cent [I’d beat them], you can’t go light on them.

In addition, Dobey is also thinking about a possible collaboration on stage. “I’m also one of those who would play pairs with them. I wouldn’t play pairs with a good player, you want to try to bring them through too.”
