Chris Dobey reached the last eight at the
International Darts Open with a resounding victory over Gabriel Clemens. 'Hollywood' did not concede a leg to Clemens at the Euro Tour tournament in Riesa.
Clemens missed one chance on the bullseye in the first leg to break Dobey, after which "The German Giant" did surrender his own leg. Dobey did not even have to start that great, as the Englishman took the first two legs with a 20-darter and a 16-darter. A 14-darter then made it 3-0.
Clemens left two more chances for the double unused in the fourth leg. Dobey hit the double 9 and further extended the lead. The former Masters champion then sealed the win with an 11-darter and a 15-darter.
In the quarterfinals, Dobey will face
Ryan Searle, who ensured the elimination of Damon Heta after an exciting match. The first four legs all went against the darts, before both players then held their own leg twice for a 4-4 tie after eight legs.
Heta then had a chance to break Searle, but the Australian could not capitalize on his chance on tops. Searle was then able to finish the match, but missed three match dates on double 17. Heta then threw out 80 to force a deciding leg. Searle was allowed to start the final leg, however, and the Englishman used this advantage by winning the match with a 15-darter.
