Callan Rydz was superb in his Round One tie and that form continues at the PDC World Darts Championship as he dumps out the 22nd seed and one of the main German hopes in Martin Schindler in a straight sets 3-0 triumph.

Only Florian Hempel and Ricardo Pietreczko now remain in the reckoning after the demise also of Gabriel Clemens and Niko Springer. While Rydz now moves on to face either Dimitri van den Bergh or Dylan Slevin for a spot in the fourth round post Christmas. Some run thus far from 'The Riot'.

In truth it was mainly an abomination on the doubles from Schindler that held the key to such a rampant win for Rydz as he moves into the Last 32.

Schindler's doubles sat at 3/28 throughout the tie and it was easy to see why from the very first leg as he missed double 18 for a 156 checkout for the set in the deciding leg and Rydz came back to steal it and go in front.

Ironically he could've won the set with a nine-dart finish also. Rydz continued to capitalise on the shocker on the doubles from Schindler as he took his tally to 18 and gifted him a three set lead.

It didn't get much better for Schindler. After more misses Rydz hit double seven for a 1-0 lead. He held last dart in hand on double 10 from there and again Schindler missed darts to hold and Rydz was there to seal the win.

Another fairly big name having a poor time of it at the World Darts Championship as Rydz continues to thrive. He returns after Christmas, while for Schindler after an incredible year he joins the annals of Mike de Decker, Ritchie Edhouse among others of failing to deliver at Ally Pally. Back to the drawing board in 2025.
