Clayton began proceedings with a game which would be a catalyst even at that early stage defeating Scott Waites 6-3 with a 103.8 average and four 180's.
Waites would go onto be his nearest rival and despite Clayton going on to make it two from two averaging 102 in a 6-3 win over Max Hopp - where The Maximiser hit six 180's; the pressure was soon to be applied by 'Scotty 2 Hotty'.
He eased to a 6-1 win over Max Hopp after previously whitewashing Carl Wilkinson. The equation as a result going into the final game was simple, if the Welshman could win in any form, he would move through.
He did so winning 6-2 against Wilkinson to conclude proceedings; with his opponent's fellow Yorkshireman not being given the favour and heading out of the tournament as a result.
The players who win Groups One-Four will go onto Semi-Final One on Wednesday June 3 with the winners from Groups Five-Eight set to play on Thursday June 4 before that aforementioned Championship Group.
