Clayton dumps out Van Gerwen, Smith thrashes Milne

The semi-finals are set at the New Zealand Darts Masters with Jonny Clayton set to face Michael Smith shortly after two superb victories.

Clayton dumped out Michael van Gerwen who lost to a familiar rival for the second time in two weeks with a 6-3 win over ‘Mighty Mike’.

The difference was made mainly on the finishes. Van Gerwen missed ten of his thirteen attempts, while Clayton only needed eight darts on the doubles to win his six legs.

Van Gerwen missed four chances in the second leg to make it 1-1 and then 'Mighty Mike' missed three in the fourth. Clayton then threw out 71, 80 and 112 to take a 5-1 lead. Van Gerwen got back to 5-3 before Clayton closed out the match with a 101 check-out.

In the last four Clayton takes on Michael Smith, who had no problem with Kayden Milne. Milne shocked Fallon Sherrock in the first round, but couldn't get a leg against 'Bully Boy’.
