Jonny Clayton is through to the second round at the
World Grand Prix after seeing off Callan Rydz in a fairly one sided win for 'The Ferret' and afterwards the birthday boy was pleased to get over the line against a tough opponent who couldn't produce on his debut.
"I'm happy. Job done, I had a tough opponent tonight, Callan's been playing really well so I knew I had to get out of the blocks quick and I did,"
"It's his debut and you know the nerves up there, I think it's my third time on that stage and the nerves never go away. I done my job so that's all that counts."
Not qualifying for the European Championship, the onus is now on Clayton to potentially have a run in this tournament and he believes it could be the time.
"I need to bounce back and I've got to start so hopefully I go a long way in this tournament.
Webster pep talks
While on the Sky Sports coverage, Mark Webster said about buying him food for his birthday but he denied this jokingly.
"He never bought me food tight git but to be fair, he does give some silly pep talks so thank you Mark."
