Jonny Clayton and Martin Schindler secured a spot in the last eight of the International Darts Open on Sunday afternoon. Especially 'The Ferret' made a big impression.
The Welshman, last Thursday's weekly winner in the Premier League Darts, defeated Dave Chisnall 6-2 thanks to an average of 104 and a finishing percentage of 60 percent. Two 14-darters and a 104 finish gave Clayton a 3-1 lead. Chisnall then made it 3-2, but then Clayton notched a 13-darter, 161 checkout and a 61 finish for the win.
Schindler made the German crowd in Riesa go into raptures by knocking Premier League star Nathan Aspinall out of the tournament 6-3. Aspinall took a 3-1 lead, but missed a chance to make it 4-1 and then also missed two chances to make it 4-2. Schindler rallied to 3-3 and did not surrender another leg.
