Incredible Clayton wins European Tour classic against Van Duijvenbode, Clemens dumps out Cross to reach maiden European Tour Quarter-Final

The next Quarter-Final is set at the Belgian Darts Open in Wieze with Jonny Clayton set to face Gabriel Clemens this evening with the former embroiled in a European Tour classic.

Both Clayton and his opponent, Dirk van Duijvenbode averaged over 105 with a 6-4 win in the end for 'The Ferret' after a brace of 141 checkouts as he sealed the win in superb fashion. Van Duijvenbode took a 2-0 lead, but thanks to a 141 finish by Clayton it became 2-2 again.

Clayton hit a 101 from there to break Van Duijvenbode's throw and with the break threatened again but for Van Duijvenbode, the former produced when it mattered with another 141 checkout.

While for Clemens, he broke new ground on the European Tour reaching his first Quarter-Final at the expense of Rob Cross who is the current European Champion.

From 2-2, Clemens threw two 15-darters and a 14-darter for a 5-2 lead before sealing the deal at 6-3 as 'The German Giant' joins Martin Schindler in the latter stages who he could yet face in the semi-finals.
