Only Michael Smith and Dirk van Duijvenbode have moved through from the top 16 seeds to Sunday's action from this afternoon's session at the
Hungarian Darts Trophy with Jonny Clayton and Dimitri van den Bergh both departing.
Clayton lost to
Dave Chisnall who sealed it in some style in Budapest. After going 2-1 down, Chisnall went 4-2 up and after a poor start to the tie, it was a thrilling conclusion.
'The Ferret' broke Chisnall's throw after the St Helens ace had missed four darts at double and he made it 4-4. Only for Chisnall to find a 117 when it mattered most to go 5-4 up.
Clayton broke back again but once more it was a ton plus show stopper as Clayton missed the bull for a 121 and Chisnall returned for a 135 using an excellent guide on the 25 to pin the bull.
While Van den Bergh only averaged 80 as he was dumped out 6-3 by
William O'Connor who is into the Last 16 of a
European Tour for the first time in three years.
With this out of sorts display, O'Connor went 4-2 up only for Van den Bergh to go only one behind but a 72 checkout to hold and to break pinning a 14 darter on double 16 with 'The Dreammaker' way back saw the Magpie clinch it with a 94 average and two 180's.
