"Creates extra pressure, but also extra joy": Van Gerwen looks to perform on Premier League Darts homecoming in Rotterdam

Michael van Gerwen heads into his Premier League Darts homecoming in Rotterdam aiming to go one better than last year when he fell at the final hurdle against Joe Cullen.

This time, he won't have Cullen but will start against Nathan Aspinall as he aims to delight the sea of Orange in the Rotterdam Ahoy will maintaining the heat on Gerwyn Price in second who is gaining ground.

“It’s always nice to play in front of your home crowd. It creates extra pressure, but also extra joy,” said Van Gerwen.

“I’ve had some good patches and some good games this year. I’ve been quite steady. You just need to keep sharp, because the Premier League is not a sprint, it’s a marathon.

“It would be absolutely fantastic to win here, but you need to make sure you keep both feet on the ground, because it’s going to be tough.

“I feel good, I feel comfortable and I think it’s going to be an amazing night.”
