The 22nd Players Championship of the year was won by
Rob Cross. The Englishman defeated Maik Kuivenhoven 6-5 in the final in Wigan. For Cross, it was his first PDC ranking title of the year, a huge boost after a difficult spell.
In the list of highest averages at
Players Championship 22, Cross only appears in fifth place. “Voltage” was too strong for David Sharp in the last 16 with a 6-1 win and posted a 104.73 average in that match.
Reyes on top
The highest average of the day went to
Cristo Reyes. The Spaniard—who only regained his PDC Tour Card at the start of this year after several seasons away from the Pro Tour—beat William O’Connor 6-1 in the opening round with a superb 111.03 average. Reyes eventually fell in the last 16 after a 6-5 defeat to Alexander Merkx.
Martin Schindler produced the second-highest average. Remarkably, his 108.19 didn’t bring a win in his second-round match against Gian van Veen. The Dutchman averaged 103.60 himself and won the match 6-5.
Rob Cross won Players Championship 22
The top three for highest averages was completed by Connor Scutt. The Englishman beat Kevin Doets 6-4 in the second round and recorded a 105.90 average. Scutt then lost 6-2 to Cross in the following round.
The Players Championship now takes a short break and resumes on Monday, 06/07. The 23rd tournament of the year will then take place in Leicester.
However, the players won’t get much rest, as the Slovak Darts Open will be staged in Bratislava this weekend, the ninth of a total of fifteen events on the European Tour 2026.
