Rob Cross is the first player to reach the last eight at the Grand Slam of Darts. Cross was behind against Ryan Joyce after the first session, but then won his second round match quite easily.
Joyce, who surprisingly won his group, started the match well by winning the first three legs on his throw. Cross did so twice, including taking out 121 finish, making it 3-2 for Joyce at the first break.
Joyce missed a chance to make it 4-3 and didn't really come into play after that. Cross broke him on double 16 and, thanks to an 11-darter, 84 finish and 116 check-out, stormed into a 9-3 lead. The 13th leg went to Joyce, before Cross ended the match with a 14-darter.
