Cross gains revenge over Humphries with comprehensive final win at Players Championship 24

Rob Cross finally has his first PDC ranking title of the year defeating Luke Humphries 8-3 in the final of Players Championship 24 to conclude the last ranking action until September.

Next up is the European Tour which ironically has been the thorn in Cross' side and in particular this year losing multiple finals to Humphries but finally, 'Voltage' has a final win over 'Cool Hand Luke' denying the in-form Newbury ace a sixth title of the season in the process.

Humphries took the opening leg on throw in the contest. Cross had darts to hold but spurned them and nearly handed Humphries a break but 108 was missed and ‘Voltage’ returned for double eight and 1-1.

It continued to go with throw with Humphries unable to take out 170 to break and Cross hit double 10 for 2-2.

But a 12-darter was pivotal for Cross as he went 3-2 up with a break which he consolidated after Humphries couldn’t pin a 122 checkout to break back.

After multiple holds, Cross kicked into gear again with a 123 checkout on the bull to make it 6-3 before holding with a 76 checkout after Humphries missed the bull for an 88 checkout and he was one away at 7-3.

From 121 on Humphries throw, Cross left 40 with Humphries missing 135 and last dart with Humphries waiting, he hit double 10 for the title.
