Cross produces brilliance to end Heta's World Series run and reach Melbourne Darts Masters semi-finals

Rob Cross has gained revenge for last week's Brisbane Darts Masters final defeat to Damon Heta with a commanding 8-3 win over 'The Heat' to move through to the semi-finals in Melbourne.

Cross was brilliant and averaged 102 with a high checkout of 161 and barring a late flurry from Heta, he could have won the tie a lot more sooner.

'Voltage' started well racing into a 3-0 lead over Heta with a 115 average and 3/4 on the doubles showing how good form he is in at the moment.

He added to that crashing in the aforementioned 161 checkout to make it 4-0 and upped his average even further to 118. Heta was still to have a dart at the double and that didn't change with Cross breaking again to go 6-0 up from there and it seemed like he was heading for the whitewash.

'The Heat' though was not backing down and he finally got off the mark to avert the whitewash and potentially mount a comeback.

He made it 6-2 to hold his throw and trail 6-2 but Cross was still in his sparkling best. He went seven perfect darts into the perfect leg and closed it out in 12 to make it 7-2 and go one away.

To follow that up, Cross missed double 18 for a perfect end to the tie in the form of a 156 checkout and Heta stayed alive on double 1 to go 7-3 behind.

Cross though sealed the deal to show himself as potentially the player to beat this weekend at the Melbourne Darts Masters.
