Cross punishes missed doubles to see off in-form Clayton and end Premier League unbeaten run

Rob Cross is just going about his business in this year's Premier League Darts and it is paying dividends for 'Voltage' who has brought Jonny Clayton's unbeaten run down to a shuddering halt.

Cross took advantage of a below-par Clayton who missed 13 darts at double to surge to a 7-3 victory with a 97 average.

Cross surged into a 3-1 lead early doors consolidating a break after Clayton had missed the opportunity to level.

Clayton returned to the fore and missed bull for a 121 checkout but returned to take out 25 after Cross himself missed chances to extend his lead and it was suddenly 3-3.

But Clayton continued to miss doubles and Cross returned to break back and lead 4-3 before returning to a two leg cushion at 5-3 up.

He suddenly guaranteed himself a point taking out 89 on double five to open up a three leg gap and surged to the win from there in a 7-3 scoreline for 'Voltage'.
