Cullen first through to European Championship Quarter-Finals with superb win over Borland

Joe Cullen is the first player through to the European Championship Quarter-Finals after seeing off William Borland in a 10-5 win.

Cullen ended the charge of the young Scot with seven 180's and a high checkout of 147 as he aims to continue his return to form in Salzburg.

Borland made a strong start to proceedings with the young Scot moving ahead 3-2 at the interval with 50% on the doubles.

But Cullen started to surge ahead with a 147 checkout seeing him go 4-3 up and at the next interval, he had fully turned the tie around going 6-4 up winning four legs from five.

Borland's doubles started to cost him with a 180 and 177 confounded by Cullen breaking to make it 7-4 and it was soon 9-4 and he was one away from victory.

But this is when Borland began to battle, he hit a 116 checkout to break throw and trail 9-5.

His comeback wouldn't continue though with Cullen leaving double four which he moved to double two to pin.
