Chris Dobey could be throwing a wrench into the PDC's plans in regards to the Premier League Darts line-up which is yet to be confirmed with 'Hollywood' into a maiden major final to face either Peter Wright or Rob Cross shortly at the 2023
Masters.
Dobey `like his football team Newcastle United has been firmly on the up reaching two quarter-finals, a semi-final and now a final in his last five televised tournaments and saw off World Number One and World Champion,
Michael Smith in a superb 11-7 win.
Smith broke to begin the tie going 2-1 up and sitting 3-2 ahead at the first interval with Dobey just behind and 'Hollywood' remained constantly in touch.
He hit a 72 checkout followed by a 118 for 4-4 to draw level and it remained all square at 5-5 at the halfway point but this is where Dobey started to motor.
He moved two clear with a break for the first time at 8-6 and at the final break was 9-6 up. Smith had no answers and was soon 10-7 down.
After Smith missed darts to prolong the tie, Dobey finally got over the line on double eight after priorly missing a match dart at the double.
