New winner set at Masters as Cross set to face Dobey in final after sealing nail-biting win over Wright

Rob Cross is through to the final of the 2023 Masters after sealing a nail-biting win over Peter Wright 11-10 in Milton Keynes and will face Chris Dobey shortly with a new winner of the season opener confirmed.

Wright missed three match darts in the deciding leg after he recovered from 10-8 down and Cross held his nerve hitting a 68 checkout to seal his spot in the final.

Wright began the tie sealing the first leg before Cross took out 106 to draw level. Wright went 3-2 up with a 161 checkout with a 110 average and 3/3 on the outer ring and at the next interval, he sat in control at 6-4.

Cross broke at 7-6 to remain in touch and made it 7-7 to draw level. Cross gained the upperhand on return from the interval with a 110 checkout at 9-8 and followed it up with a superb 127 checkout at 10-8.

Cross missed one match dart and Wright squeezed in double 10 to go 10-9 down and Wright followed it in with an 88 checkout for an 11-darter at 10-10 before the aforementioned missed match darts which 'Voltage' pounced on to claim the tie.
