De Zwaan edges past Chisnall in World Championship thriller

De Zwaan came through 4-3 in sets; with a 106.09 average, seven 180s and 53 percent on the doubles; as he came through a back and forth contest, Chisnall himself averaged 101.75 as it went all the way to a final set which the Dutchman came through expertly.

Chisnall wasn't brilliant in the early stages of the match; as De Zwaan took the opening set 3-1 as his average was up at 101 while his opponent was down 86.

Despite that, the set was a reversal as it was the St Helens ace averaged 104 taking out 72 to take it in a deciding set; with both players exchanging breaks of throw in the early going in the set; it was Chisnall who levelled it up though.

De Zwaan eased through the next set in consecutive legs to regain the lead; as he didn't hold back after hitting an 11-darter in the first leg to break the Chisnall throw and he put his average up towards 102.8.

Chisnall responded brilliantly with another clean sweep to restore parity as it was evenly locked in at 2-2. De Zwaan went to the potential brink as he was 3-2 up despite Chisnall producing a 112 checkout for the lead; it was the Dutchman who sealed it 3-1 with a 104 average and four 180s. It was up to Chisnall to force a decider.

He did so as he claimed it 3-1 including a brilliant 161 checkout to break throw followed by him holding to put it very much all the way, who can produce the goods to move through.

De Zwaan drew first blood with a break of throw; as he took out 76 to lead in the decider. He doubled his lead to put himself on the verge; with a ten dart finish and from there, he concluded the match in a thriller.
