Chas Barstow is through to the second round of the 2021/22 PDC World Darts Championship after seeing off John Norman Jnr in a 3-1 sets win.
Barstow like his opponent was on debut but he acclimatised mostly better than his opponent who grew into the tie taking a set but in the end it was a 93 average, two 180's and two ton plus checkouts as he sets up a tie with Michael van Gerwen.
Norman Jnr missed 11 darts in the opening leg for a hold and Barstow suddenly hit double 19 to break and lead.
A 174 and 88 checkout saw Barstow double his lead as he headed towards the first set.
Barstow missed multiple chances for the set and Norman finally got on the board with 1/15 on the doubles.
The set was sealed though with a 103 checkout as he headed into the lead.
An 88 checkout began the second set for Barstow as he held throw. He was first to a finish on the Norman Jnr throw who was on a 77 average compared to the 91 of Barstow.
A 52 checkout sealed it as he went one away from a two set lead, it was complete with a 102 checkout.
A 138 leave for Barstow saw him leave 40 but Norman Jnr got another opportunity to get a second leg on the board which he took.
Barstow again handed Norman Jnr a chance and he took it with a 62 checkout to go 2-0 up throwing for the set.
A 68 on the bull saw Barstow break back and he was throwing for a decider. But Norman Jnr dug deep to keep his hopes alive.
Barstow held to begin an important set and broke with a 96 checkout. Both produced 180's but it was on Barstow's throw so he was first to a finish.
Norman Jnr miscounted on a 116 checkout but was back after Barstow missed multiple match darts. This allowed Norman Jnr a break back.
Barstow pressured with a 140 but Norman Jnr produced a 65 checkout to force a decider.
A 96 set up left 36 for Barstow with Norman Jnr well back and finally the Winchester ace sealed it.
