Jose de Sousa and
Ryan Joyce are into the final day of action at the
Gibraltar Darts Trophy after sealing victories over Rowby-John Rodriguez and Danny Noppert respectively on Saturday afternoon.
It was delight for De Sousa as he sealed a 6-3 win over Rodriguez making it both brothers out at the second round hurdle. He sealed it with a 92 average and 40% on the doubles.
An early break for De Sousa in the form of a 95 checkout gave him the early impetus as he went 2-0 up. Rodriguez hit back with an 88 checkout only for the breaks to continue until 5-2 after he pinned 76 and 79 to break and hold.
Rodriguez held but De Sousa nearly ended it with a 161 checkout missing the bull before eventually hitting 25 on double eight.
While Joyce recovered from 5-3 down to see off Danny Noppert in a deciding leg in a superb comeback from 'Relentless' to deny the UK Open champion.
Sealing it with a 96 average and 50% on the doubles, Joyce was broken at 3-2 down with a 93 checkout which was the difference initially as Noppert followed with an 86 checkout.
The Dutchman held at 5-3 but Joyce pivotally broke at 5-5 with a 73 checkout after Noppert failed to take out 108 and and Joyce sealed it on double 14 after Noppert missed a dart at 74.
