Chris Dobey has reached the Quarter-Finals of the PDC World Darts Championship for the first time with Michael van Gerwen or Dirk van Duijvenbode now awaiting in the New Year.

Dobey has reached the Last 16 four times in his career but has finally reached the Quarter-Finals on the fourth attempt with a 4-2 sets win over Rob Cross with a 102 average, eight 180's and 170 as a highest checkout.

Dobey had early misses and Cross hit double eight to break and double his advantage. Dobey hit his first 180 to leave double 20 to break back.

Both hit 180’s but after more missed darts at doubles, Cross hit double 16 for the set. He missed 126 on the bull and Dobey hit double 10 to hold. He swept the set hitting a 100 checkout for 1-1.

Cross decided to lay up from 164 instead of going for it and Dobey went for 170 but couldn’t get a shot at the bull. The former returned for double eight to lead.

Dobey couldn’t take his chance on throw and Cross went one away from a 2-1 sets lead which he took with a 48 checkout on double eight.

Cross and Dobey both hit 180’s in the same leg as they both were on 101 average but it was ‘Voltage’ who levelled it up at 1-1. Dobey hit a 170 checkout to make it 2-1 before missing 145 on double 14 for the set. Cross returned for a 57 checkout to make it 2-2 but Dobey hit double nine for the set.

Cross missed darts to hold and Dobey broke on double eight. He went one away from the set but fluffed darts at double 16 to seal it in a clean sweep and Cross pinned double one for 2-1 down. Dobey hit double 20 for a 3-2 sets lead.

Dobey missed bull for another 170 as did Cross but Dobey returned to hit double 14 to hold. He went one away from the win at 2-1.

Cross missed the second double 18 on 129 but Dobey couldn’t get a shot at 115 and Cross returned to send it all the way.

Dobey missed two match darts but Cross could only pressure and ‘Hollywood’ returned only to bust with Cross on 220 before hitting double 10.
