Chris Dobey is the final player through to the Quarter-Finals of the
European Championship and will face Dave Chisnall tomorrow afternoon after seeing off Jose de Sousa in a 10-5 victory in Dortmund.
After beating him on the 12th attempt, Dobey did not fall to the curse of Michael van Gerwen by losing in the next round averaging 95.97, with 47.6% on the doubles and six 180's in moving through.
Always in control during the tie, Dobey surged away after being locked in at 2-2 with a break as he went 4-2 up and did so again with an 86 checkout after De Sousa had missed multiple darts to hold.
This was consolidated as he went 6-2 ahead on double five with De Sousa not troubling the throw of 'Hollywood'. These early breaks proved vital as Dobey kept holding when it mattered with a 14-darter on double 20 for 7-3 which was followed up and they all count with double two for a 23-darter to go two from the finishing line.
This after both missed droves of darts at doubles. But two finishes of 76 and 74 saw Dobey seal the match and continue another superb run.
