Brendan Dolan produced one of his finest days of darts as he claimed the opening PDC
Super Series title of the week in Milton Keynes.
Dolan started the day with a personal best average in 111.2 against Jason Lowe and followed it up with wins over Jamie Hughes and World Number One, Gerwyn Price.
From there, his standard just got better as he averaged 106 in his last 16 win over Damon Heta.
This was followed by 109.5 in the quarter-finals against Scott Mitchell, before claiming a 7-4 win over Joe Cullen in the semis.
From there, he faced Michael Smith winning 8-6 to win an eighth ranking title and add another to his collection as he continues to make progress back to the top.
It is progress he doesn’t want to stop and a delighted Dolan spoke about his winning mindset and wanting to add more titles after his win.
“I've changed a few things," said Dolan. "I want to win tournaments and you need a bit of luck on the day, and possibly somewhere along the line I've had a bit of luck.
"I know I've played well to beat these people [today] but that's what I do in practice. People don't believe you because you can't produce it where it counts, and I'm trying to do what I do in practice here.
"I felt today that my performance level, my scoring was a lot better. I've won ProTours before and my finishing was clinical but today I thought I thoroughly deserved it.
"The standard was good at the top when I first started, but now it's that good at the bottom so you have to raise your game.
"I want to win more. I'm fed up of just taking part, and for a few years I was happy just to be here with the best in the world. Now I'm not happy to do that, I want to be better than them."
