The
draw and playing schedule for the
New Zealand Darts Masters 2024 has been announced.
Gerwyn Price, last week's winner of the Australian Darts Masters, starts his tournament against
Ben Robb.
Elsewhere,
Dimitri van den Bergh was paired in the draw with home player Mark Cleaver, who had qualified for this tournament via the DPNZ ranking. For Van den Bergh, it is already his seventeenth regular World Series tournament. Cleaver has made an appearance at the World Series in the distant past. He competed in one tournament each in 2017 and 2018.
Should Van den Bergh make it through his first round, a showdown with
Luke Littler awaits in the quarterfinals. The 17-year-old teenage sensation will play against Jonny Tata, who narrowly beat
Peter Wright in the first round last year. This time around, Wright will face off against with Daniel Snookes in the opening round.
Reigning world champion
Luke Humphries plays his first-ever match on New Zealand soil against 24-year-old Kayden Milne. For
Michael Smith, a duel with Jeremy Fagg is scheduled.
Rob Cross faces Haupai Puha once again. Last week, Cross narrowly won 6-5 over Puha in the first round of the Australian Darts Masters, but the New Zealander gets a retake against the defending champion at the New Zealand Darts Masters in front of his own audience. There is also an Australian clash between
Damon Heta and
Simon Whitlock.
