Draw and schedule confirmed for 2022 World Grand Prix: Van Gerwen-Anderson and Clayton-Van Duijvenbode among first round ties

The draw has been confirmed ahead of the 2022 World Grand Prix which is due to take place between October 3-9 at Morningside Arena in Leicester with Jonny Clayton as defending champion.

Clayton faces a difficult test in his opener in one of the standout ties as he faces Dirk van Duijvenbode, a former finalist in this tournament and the recent runner-up at the World Series of Darts Finals.

The standout tie will be Michael van Gerwen, five-time champion facing 2016 runner-up Gary Anderson who is the highest ranked unseeded player in the draw.

World Number One, Gerwyn Price faces Martin Schindler, one of three debutants in the tournament with Martin Lukeman and Madars Razma also involved facing James Wade and Ryan Searle respectively.

Peter Wright, the current World Champion will look to add a barren piece of his collection as he starts off against Kim Huybrechts, while in another top showdown, Michael Smith will face Nathan Aspinall.

Other ties to watch include Jose de Sousa - Adrian Lewis, Rob Cross - Daryl Gurney and Luke Humphries - Chris Dobey in a top line-up of tungsten.
