The final ProTour event of 2025 is upon us —
Players Championship 34 — and with qualification for both the
Players Championship Finals in Minehead and the
PDC World Darts Championship at Ally Pally hanging in the balance, there’s everything to play for as the season reaches its dramatic close.
A field stacked with tension and storylines takes centre stage in Wigan, where every leg could define a player’s year. Here’s a closer look at some of the standout ties and big names to watch as the race for spots intensifies.
Heavyweight Clashes and Must-Win Battles
Reigning world champion Luke Littler headlines the field, drawn against Dutch youngster Jamai van den Herik. Littler’s form across the autumn has been nothing short of frightening, but every match matters as he looks to lock in for Minehead and build momentum toward his Ally Pally title defence.
A stacked
draw means no shortage of box-office clashes. Luke Humphries opens against Martijn Dragt, keen to finish the ProTour year on a high as he continues to try and hold off Littler in the world rankings. Michael Smith meets William O’Connor in another headline-grabbing tie, while Dave Chisnall faces Jules van Dongen, who'll notably be throwing with his left hand once gain.
Peter Wright, meanwhile, faces Poland’s Tytus Kanik in a fixture that could decide whether the two-time world champion remains in the world’s top 32. Wright’s turbulent year leaves him in danger of missing key events, and an early exit here could seal that fate.
Elsewhere, Rob Cross meets Nick Kenny, while Nathan Aspinall battles Mervyn King. Raymond van Barneveld takes on Dominik Gruellich and Danny Noppert takes on Andy Baetens.
From Stephen Bunting looking to cap off his season, to Wessel Nijman keen to be continuing his impressive year against Callan Rydz, this final Players Championship promises the usual mix of pressure, brilliance, and heartbreak that defines the PDC floor circuit.
By the end of the day, the Minehead line-up will be locked in — and so too will the list of players booking their tickets, or missing out, on Alexandra Palace. One final sprint remains before the sport’s biggest stage comes calling.
