Draw released for 2019 Grand Slam of Darts: Cross faces potential 'Group of Death' with Chisnall, Hughes and Ashton

The draw has been made for the Grand Slam of Darts which begins this Saturday at the Aldersley Leisure Village in Wolverhampton.

There are some really tough groups which were drawn out by PDC Chairman, Barry Hearn including Rob Cross having the in-form Dave Chisnall, Danish Darts Open champion Jamie Hughes and multiple Ladies World Champion Lisa Ashton to face.

In terms of the defending champion Gerwyn Price, he has Dimitri van den Bergh who despite not being in the greatest form as of late always has the ability to mix it up on the big stage, Robert Thornton who has shown glimmers of returning to his best and current Ladies World Champion, Mikuru Suzuki.

Michael van Gerwen will get potential revenge on Ross Smith for knocking him out of the European Championship when he takes on 'Smudger' in Group 1 alongside rival Adrian Lewis and one of the BDO's best Jim Williams.

Gary Anderson will aim to put his last performance in Amsterdam behind him if injury doesn't keep him out when he faces Darren Webster, William O'Connor and the debuting Dave Parletti.

James Wade as number eight seed will face off against Ian White, Steve Lennon and Wesley Harms; while Peter Wright will also aim for another good run when he faces Danny Noppert, Ryan Harrington and Wayne Warren.

A potential outside pick for toughest group though is the last one when Michael Smith has Martin Schindler, UK Open champion Nathan Aspinall and Lakeside champion and multiple PDC semi-finalist Glen Durrant to contend with.
