Andrew Gilding, Callan Rydz, Madars Razma and Roger Hertig qualified for the second round at the
Swiss Darts Trophy on Friday afternoon. Hertig secured the second Swiss win in front of his own crowd at the first Euro Tour tournament on Swiss soil.
Hertig managed a 6-5 win in the first round over Ryan Meikle, who, like the Swiss, posted an average of just 74. The match began with five breaks in the first six legs. Three of them were in favor of Hertig, who grabbed a 4-2 lead.
Meikle came back to 4-4, forcing a deciding leg moments later. Hertig started the final leg superbly with four triples in the first three innings, and secured the win with a 17-darter.
Andrew Gilding had an easy afternoon against Nandor Pres, the Eastern European qualifier. An average of 86.71 was enough for 'Goldfinger' to win 6-0 over his Hungarian opponent.
Callan Rydz also recorded a big win. The Riot had little trouble brushing aside Brendan Dolan 6-1. Rydz took the first four legs of the match, and decided the match in the seventh leg with a beautiful 12-darter.
Madars Razma also secured a spot in the second round of the Basel event. The dart player from Latvia triumphed 6-3 against Swiss qualifier Alexander Fehlmann.
