England underlined why Michael Smith and James Wade are the number one seed in the first round of the
World Cup of Darts on Friday night.
With a convincing win, the Czech Republic, who also played very well were defeated with ease 5-1. In the first leg, Wade immediately punished Karel Sedlacek and Adam Gawlas by finishing 86.
Via double 10 England then made it 2-0, before the Czech Republic got on the scoreboard via a 72 finish from Gawlas. With a 14-darter and a 15-darter, Smith and Wade surged away from the Czechs and secured their place in the last sixteen.
Australia had an easy victory over Lithuania. Simon Whitlock and Damon Heta were 5-2 too strong for Darius Labanauskas and Mindaugas Barauskas.
Whitlock was also close to an historic nine darter at the World Cup of Darts. ‘The Wizard' missed the double 18 for the first perfect leg ever at this tournament.
