The European Darts Trophy will then be played at the Lokhalle in Göttingen, one of the established and prestigious events on the European Tour circuit. The tournament is part of the series of fifteen European Tour events held across the season in various European countries.
As usual, more than sporting pride is at stake, with a substantial prize fund on offer. A total of £230,000 will be distributed among the participants.

Players who enter in the first round are guaranteed £1,250, while the amount increases each round until the winner ultimately takes home £30,000. The combination of a strong field, a passionate German darts fanbase, and an attractive prize fund makes the European Darts Trophy a prestigious tournament on the European Tour every year.

What is on offer at European Darts Trophy?

The European Darts Trophy was first held in 2013 and was won by Wes Newton. Michael Smith then claimed the 2014 and 2015 editions, defeating Michael van Gerwen in the final on both occasions. It was third time lucky for the Dutchman, who lifted the title in 2016 after two lost finals. Van Gerwen then won the tournament again in 2017 and 2018. Last year, the event returned to the Euro Tour calendar, with Nathan Aspinall taking the title.

Nathan Aspinall is the defending champion.
Players who reach the third round can add £5,000. A spot in the second round is worth £3,500, while those eliminated in the opening round still earn £2,000. That brings the total prize fund to £230,000.
A special rule applies to seeded players. If they lose their opening match in the second round, they still receive prize money, but that amount does not count towards the rankings.
This rule does not apply to players who qualify and later move into a seeded position due to a withdrawal. In that case, the prize money earned is fully counted on the Order of Merit.
