Even higher than PDC Tour Card holders: 16-year-old Archie Self makes jaws drop with PDC Development Tour form

The PDC Development Tour remains an ideal benchmark for emerging talent on the path to the top of international darts. During Events 16 through 20, impressive averages were recorded once again, with several young players showing they have the level to spring surprises on bigger stages as well. The highest average of this block came from Englishman Archie Self, who posted an eye-catching 111.33 in the last 256 at Development Tour 18.

With that performance, Self not only topped the averages chart but also underlined his excellent form. Remarkably, it was not his only entry near the top of this statistic. At Development Tour 16, he also produced an average above 104, making him the only player to appear twice in the top averages list across the five events. That confirms the Englishman currently ranks among the most consistent and dangerous players on the Development Tour.

Behind Self, fellow Englishman Kaya Baysal registered a 105.47 average, also set during Development Tour 18 in the opening round. He was one of only two players in this stretch to break the 105 barrier.

Belgian Jenson Remory also made a strong statement. He delivered a 104.79 average in the last 16 at Development Tour 17. The fact this came in a more advanced stage of the tournament makes his display all the more impressive.

German Leon Weber completed the fourth 103-plus effort of Development Tour 18 with a 103.66 average. Countryman Charlie Manby likewise topped 103 at the same event, reinforcing the sense that the eighteenth tournament became one of the highest-quality stops in this run. After all, four of the seven best averages were produced at Development Tour 18, indicating the scoring level there was exceptionally high.

The list is rounded off by Czech Adam Gawlas, who posted a 102.21 average in the semi-finals of Development Tour 19. He was the only player in this overview to average over 100 in the last four of a tournament. That makes his performance particularly notable, since the opposition at that stage is generally far tougher than in the early rounds.

The numbers show that the Development Tour once again provides a platform for exceptional performances.
